Well, I'd ask you to reconsider about the brain...
For example, a computer... It doesn't have a brain, and yet it's smarter than all of us!!!!!! And someone once told me, "A computer is as smart as its user." I think he's right!!!:D

Indeed, dear Hacker, the truth is always bitter;) And there is evidence that the undead don't have brains, because in Might and Magic 8, Vampires and Liches have immunity to mind magic;) ;)
And a computer is programmed; a person taught it first. After all, it didn't program itself;)
