If there hadn't been someone who finished in 8 days, the 40 points would have simply turned into 45, but if there was someone among all the players who finished in 11 days, the 40 points would immediately turn into 56... which is quite different... And the oscillator is responsible for all of this. And if you only consider the first non-linear option, it will always be a flat 80 points and won't depend on the performance of other players...
