Got lucky with scouting, ended up with drakes hidden under the town, 2 native heroes (including Ivor). Kyrre gets Earth magic right away — super. Then she just leveled perfectly — Tactics, Wisdom, Defense/Attack, Air. First week I fought mainly with Ivor, while Kyrre had the toughest challenge — fending off the combined AI army on snow with dragons. No surrender option, but I managed to stall, and the key was an anti-morale artifact given by another AI. Meanwhile, on the other front, Ivor finally decided to go for the Dwarf 100. A couple of morale procs would have seriously crippled the second week’s combat potential (earlier I messed up and lost about 20 Centaurs). In the end, everything worked out — horses in the Castle, AIs defeated, Kyrre runs to the stable by 121.
In week 2, I found a Griffin Conservatory at the Barbarian’s, where Ivor’s Pathfinding came in handy. Level 2 Artifact, I take it. On the other end of the chain, Kyrre prepares to enter the treasure zone. The treasure zone wasn’t great — snowy and small, no Dragon Fly Hives, but I did pick up 15 Thunderbirds, a +12 Breastplate, and Slippers from the Alliance. And some Pechs in the corner, grabbed by a freed scout hero at level 20. By 125 we move to another treasure zone, but I’m worried about the lack of an Angel stack. I decide to send Ivor to a side path for a Griffin Conservatory while Kyrre checks out the treasure zone with 2 Angels. Along the way, he finds another Griffin Conservatory — level 3.
I decide not to rush to the targeted Griffin Conservatory — it would cost a day, a day that ultimately helped me finish so quickly.
In the treasure zone, there are several Dragon Utopias, a couple of mini-hives, and decent chests.
After one chest that gave 60 Archers, I decide to push and go into a Dragon Utopia with whatever I have (didn’t have gold to buy the army). I have 21 Thunderbirds, 5 Angels, and a lot of imps. Turns out it was a minimum one, and nothing valuable died — I got a +4 Breastplate, buy up, and assault the next one — level 3 with a Tome of Earth Magic and a +4+ Shield. At 135, I very timely grab a Tome of Air Magic, portal for mana to give Val a surprise next turn. Turned out I got a pleasant surprise myself — Val was right there and got brutally beaten.
Thanks for the game.
P.S. It’s worth noting that Maretti was right — 8 minutes are too little for Nosta. Sometimes even 10 wasn’t enough, even though I played as focused as possible and didn’t stall. In time trouble, I did something incoherent.
