1. I've already tested "curse". I was just going to say that it also reduces damage by -1 when used with expert fire. This ability didn't impress me.
It depends on the situation. If there's also expert slow, you can use it first. But nothing prevents you from using expert curse after that.
There probably isn't a universal ability; it all depends on your skills and troops.
