I was always talking about the CURRENT one. But the question is - if there is a championship, can't I duplicate the CURRENT Player Rating of those who participate in it?

I meant the annual rating, because the current rating is never reset, it only gets older - that's correct. No awards are given based on the current rating, because the results change after each tournament. And the new year has nothing to do with it. So, here I fully support your suggestion...

This is the easiest thing: the rating of each tournament is determined by the average rating of the ten strongest participants... So-called, qualifying coefficient. The higher it is, the higher the rating of the tournament. The formula is not trivial, but it can be calculated.

An analogy in sports: to get the Candidate Master of Sports (KMS) rank, you need to win a championship, among the participants of which 10% have the Master of Sports (MS) or KMS rank... Otherwise, you won't get KMS... Or something like that. In short, the qualifying criterion for the current tournament can be introduced later. And there you have it - an account of the current player rating...
