There are a lot of units that can easily handle dragons. Death messengers, cave lords, for example.

“Easily handle” means pecking at one dragon per turn and getting hit back by the lava shield?

No, the messengers don’t take it, just like removing the spell doesn’t work. An adept also doesn’t.
