Increase spell power? How does that work? Hoping it will appear more often than the usual 15%? You can, of course, take education – that guarantees +2 to spell power, and hopefully another 1-2. Then take sorcery – another +2. The result is a complete mediocrity – neither a mage nor a warrior. It's better to take a proven Dungeon hero. And Chaos sometimes brings more benefit even to good people.
