Well, if you can boost it, then it's clear (Fire Lord is a great thing), but it's usually difficult to boost spell power for demons. And, for example, equipping artifacts only for spell power doesn't seem like a good option either; you still need to strengthen your army first. So, choose Darkness, or if you have the opportunity to acquire spells, then Light is also good.
