corksink, I'm looking at your maps (while playing others' maps), but, excuse my frankness: I never liked the Heroes Portal rules, where you don't have to complete the map, but "just" level up your main hero to level 25 as quickly as possible. The map creators don't make maps for that; instead, you need to think about the sequence and tactics of battles to reach level 25 faster than everyone else. You see, it's not interesting! That is, this is not a criticism directed at you, but at those who came up with such rules: they seem to have been tired of "just" completing maps for a long time, so they came up with this perversion. Obviously, this is convenient because masters can achieve such a result in one evening, while completing the map fully may take a week or more - and their time is more valuable. :( That's sad.
(Actually, this is one of the reasons why I never registered on Heroes Portal and don't plan to do so in the future.)
Let me explain more clearly. For such Tournaments, you can create a map like this: no forests, mountains, seas, rivers, or other "nonsense" - who needs them here?! Just place 1 city, 1 hero, a bunch of monsters around, and - there you go, fight!
