All that remains is to cite examples of players who have changed their position to a positive one towards a particular side as a result of the endless debates that have taken place here: this includes the 16 pages of this thread, the endless discussions in the 2012 World Cup thread, and earlier discussions on similar topics.
However, there are plenty of examples of the opposite happening; as soon as someone shouts: "Cheater!", a support group immediately appears, having long suspected this person of unfair play.
As one character in a popular movie said:
