Where did people learn to play Heroes?

I learned to play Heroes... during my studies... :) More precisely, during my practical training... Instead of doing what I was supposed to do, I found this game (which was unknown to me at the time), HMM2, and played it almost throughout the entire training period (fortunately, the professor would let us into the classroom and then leave)... That's how it all started.
