Where did people learn to play Heroes?

When I had a 486, I only played two games: Redneck Rampage and Duke Nuken. But one day, a friend brought King's Bounty, which I didn't really like. Then he brought the first Heroes game. I liked it, but I didn't play it for very long. After that, I took a break until 1999, when I bought the third installment and received Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia as a gift. That's when it all started... I studied at home and occasionally went to a computer club or played online via modem. That's how I learned.
