But there's also a contrast on the main menu: a picture of the city and a knight. The knight moves, so it looks more plastic. In the city, all the buildings will be clickable, so they look like plastic.
Even if you remove the knight, there's still movement (birds flying around the tower, sunbeams). Of course, it would be nice to animate the clouds too... But alas. The city itself is beautifully drawn: there are a moderate number of buildings, it's done neatly, and the colors are chosen harmoniously. That's how it should be done. I can imagine each city's screen in this style... It would be beautiful...
