Nostalgia. What makes the old better than the new?

I don't see anything wrong with occasionally reminiscing about the good old days, about events that brought you joy and happiness. Of course, when there's nothing to remember, or the memories aren't the best, or perhaps there weren't any good memories at all, then reminiscing becomes unpleasant and sad.
