I saw that you figured it out. Just to clarify that having a hero who isn't one of the faction's native races is perfectly normal. It's just that we've gotten used to the fifth game, where only the mages had humans in their roster along with various genies (although it's not entirely accurate – humans are essentially the mages' native race), and everyone else only had their own race represented among their heroes. In other parts of the series, they often didn't shy away from using heroes from other races. Even necromancers sometimes had living heroes.
