When you conquer a new Castle, there are usually other computer-controlled heroes nearby, typically 2-3 of them. So, before leaving the newly conquered Castle, buy 2-3 heroes in the tavern, preferably with Scouting or Logistics skills, to check if there are any nearby computer-controlled heroes. It's quite annoying when, after leaving such a Castle, it is immediately attacked.
