But our region is also relatively calm because it rarely passes through the spiral arms, which have a dangerously high concentration of supernovae. And if there were many stars nearby, gravitational disturbances would cause active movement of objects from the Oort cloud, which would increase the chance of an asteroid or comet hitting our planet by several orders of magnitude. Therefore, intelligent life is most likely located in areas of the Galaxy similar to ours.
