First of all, this is exactly what I was talking about – it has absolutely nothing to do with "you can't see beyond your own nose." Secondly, I don't quite understand what "neither one nor the other" means here, because you didn't list two components, but only mentioned religious studies. You're not expressing yourself very clearly in Russian.
Your conclusion is incorrect. How can I know what you're interested in and what you're not, if you're as interested in these topics as I am? It's logical to assume that you are interested.
