Additional saves wouldn't help; they would only complicate the situation.
I still think that one or two instances can be attributed to chance/inexperience, but more than that starts to raise some unpleasant thoughts.
They would provide quite a bit of information.
How often does a player not take Pandora's Box, how often do they jump into the dark without scouting, what skills do they choose when leveling up, and so on....
