What skills should Necromancers take when facing Orcs on a very large map?

I always level up one hero and travel with one army. In the late game, when I have many towns and need to defend everything, I start hiring new armies and a lot of heroes. I've already maxed out the defense skill, as it's available to Orson from the start.
