Yes, summoning elementals is an option. But the thing is, it's available to everyone, not just heroes of the Conflux. A very powerful thing is the pawns (magical elementals). Magic doesn't affect them (although their own magic doesn't either), and that's why they often remain the last ones standing in particularly intense battles. And their ability to attack all neighbors is simply invaluable in such cases.
