Well, the conversation didn't work out. I think I'll head to the field forges. The dwarven blacksmiths were working hard, repairing the runes on battered armor and weapons. I approached one and asked if I could work for an hour or two. The dwarf looked at me in surprise and stepped aside, giving me space at the anvil. I decided to make myself a shield; another blow to the side could break all my ribs (and I wouldn't want that). The dwarf who let me use his forge watched my actions with surprise. "Where did you learn to forge like that?" he asked. I told him the story of my three-year visit to the dwarves. The dwarf was happy and proud (though I didn't quite understand why). Anyway, when I was almost finished with the shield and was about to engrave protective runes on it, the dwarf pushed me aside and began to engrave symbols that I had never seen before. "This rune will give you an absolute shield; nothing in this world can destroy it, or even move it, though you won't be able to move it yourself while the rune is active." The dwarf stepped back, and I thanked him for the gift. After that, I applied another protective layer to the shield and engraved runes of cold on it. Now, when you touch the outside of the shield, the cold instantly burns, and if you're not quick enough, you can easily lose a frozen part of your body. Let the demons try to break through this shield now. However, forging takes much more energy than fighting, so I'm going to go to sleep, and tomorrow I might find out something about Novizard.
