Computer-controlled enemies take a long time to move.

I had the same problem in Heroes 4. Although my computer is quite old – a Pentium 4, 1GB of RAM, and a GeForce 6600 (I know it's an outdated card, and I'm planning to upgrade, but will it help?). What should I do, or is this a problem with the game engine itself?
