A battle of wits? Well, yes, that's interesting, but where do you see a battle of wits in revealing roles or in an action that deserves a "modkill"? A victory obtained in this way is nothing, just zero. Being able to admit defeat is honorable; I've never respected those who will do anything just to win (when the chances are absolutely zero); such people only disgust me.

A battle of wits is possible. I'm sure of it. You calculate the probabilities from such an angle that after your role is revealed, the others behave according to the scheme you've implanted in their minds before the reveal.
I've already written about the moral aspect. In general, the question is multifaceted, which is pleasing. And a victory can't be zero (in society); it might be zero for me/you/Vasily, but the ego of the winner will still derive pleasure from it.
