I also checked the boxes for "Disable visual effects" and "Disable desktop composition."
I'm using Crazy's build (crzg) at work, and I'm very grateful to him for that. :)
I haven't experienced any issues or crashes.
All you need to do is copy the Heroes folder to any location and set the specified settings in the properties of the Heroes3HD.exe file on the Compatibility tab.
