Zybr, personally, I wouldn't want to see endless pointless arguments in the chat, insults, or anything of that nature when I visit the forum, as these are an integral part of various chats.
If the chat is a "civilized" place for communication and it's fun and enjoyable, as mentioned above, then I wouldn't be against it, but in order for it to be that way, it must be moderated and all violators must be strictly punished.
Why not just create a separate room/section for casual chatting? After all, there is a separate section on the forum, so, judging by the forum sections, it would be better to create several rooms (by versions of Heroes, other similar games, casual chatting, etc.) than to simply have a general chat.
That's also an option.
P.S. We also need to understand what kind of chat it will be. An interactive chat like ICQ or one that is tied to page updates.
