About Solomon. [A Psalm of David.] O God, give the king your justice, and to the king's son your righteousness, that he may judge your people with fairness and your poor with justice; that the mountains may bring peace to the people, and the hills, with righteousness; that he may defend the cause of the poor of the people, save the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor. May they fear you while the sun lasts, as long as the moon remains, from generation to generation. He will come down like rain on the mown grass, like dew that falls on the ground. In his days the righteous will flourish, and abundance of peace, until the moon is no more. He will rule from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. The people of the desert will bow before him, and his enemies will lick the dust. The kings of Tarshish and the islands will bring tribute; the kings of Sheba and Seba will bring gifts. All kings will bow down to him, and all nations will serve him. For he will deliver the needy when he cries out, and the poor who have no one to help. He will have compassion on the weak and the needy, and the lives of the poor he will save. From oppression and violence he will redeem them, and their lives will be precious to him. He will live, and gold from Sheba will be given to him; prayers will be made for him, and blessings will never cease. May his name endure forever; may his fame continue as long as the sun shines. All nations will be blessed through him, and they will call him blessed. Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone does wonders. Blessed be his glorious name forever; may his glory fill the whole earth. Amen and amen. The prayers of David, son of Jesse, are ended.
