The Russian language doesn't have words like Dungeon, Heaven, and so on. But it does have the word "Sylvan," even though it's of foreign origin. Don't believe me? Google it.
The true beauty of the original universe was revealed to me by the campaign in Might and Magic III. Perhaps I'm wrong to draw conclusions based on just one part, but I can't help it – the impression was too strong and positive. The plot has a sense of epic scale, which is lacking in, for example, Might and Magic VI. If there's a demon invasion, why not go all out, create some incredible campaign with an exciting plot, so that the player can at least feel the situation (especially since the graphics allow it)! But no. Everything is done according to a template, without much imagination. I keep using the "Reign of Chaos" campaign as an example – it's magnificent. That's where you see creativity, a well-thought-out story, and engaging gameplay. And that was in 2001!
The original universe is special. At least because it was created with passion; commerce was probably secondary for Jon. And it shows. I'm a little confused by the Ancients, but I understand that they're essential; they're the framework of that world, so I had to accept it. When I play Might and Magic V or VI, I have the feeling that everything was done just for the sake of it. Just to have something. The exception, as I said before, is the "The Fury and the Mire" map – I have an inexplicable love for it.
Perhaps the whole uniqueness of the original universe is that it is bigger, perhaps two or three times bigger, in all aspects. It has no boundaries, but Ashan does. And for example, you can't explain something like Space Marines in Ashan...
