Future expansions.

Many people are now wondering whether there will be any expansions at all. I will try to explain the situation from my perspective. The patch delay means that Black Hole has stepped away from the project, and Ubisoft is looking for a replacement. Why? Because, as you say, Ubisoft is creating Heroes 6 just to tick a box, without any passion, and they have already made a profit, so why should they fix the game and spend money on a new developer? That doesn't make sense. But let's try to dispel the darkness and focus on the positive. Black Hole was not involved with the Heroes series before they started working on Heroes 6, so we can rule them out. Who gave them direction? Ubisoft. All the innovative ideas were conceived by Ubisoft. That doesn't sound like "just ticking a box." The game is well-made (I'm not talking about the technical side of the project, where Ubisoft cut corners). The story is impressive and has potential for continuation. So why isn't Ubisoft making an expansion right away, but instead polishing the original game? Because Ubisoft isn't completely indifferent to Heroes. They will continue the series, and how and by what methods – that's a secondary question. You may still see and learn about many terrible and annoying things (for example, some people are even annoyed by the April Fool's joke). We will see expansions, and we will learn about them sometime before 2013.
