What's the point of comparing them this way? In a real game, such situations (archers vs. cavalry) won't occur.
With Valeska, the early game and clearing out gnome-mages, conserves, etc., are easier.

If we're talking about tournaments played on specific maps, then such situations might not occur. However, a strong archer unit surviving without losses has never hurt anyone. Initially, the question wasn't about which hero to choose as a starting hero, but rather what the advantage of Turis is (Valeska was used as an alternative starting hero for comparison).
