I agree with Dirty. 10 minutes is too much, even for the slowest players. Not everyone can physically (or psychologically) endure such long turns. Why turn the game into torture?

+1 I always suffered from a lack of time per turn. But then I realized what the reason was. Now I try to think through my next turn in detail while it's the opponent's turn. This really helps to avoid wasting extra time. For example, watch Mike's games; he plays without the HD mod and manages to complete his turns in 6 minutes without any problems.
