I was watching Amilu's game closely, and I don't understand where he got the +5 sword.

It happens at 3:00 in the video. (124)

Amilu ends his turn on the Hive, and the sword isn't there yet; his stats are 7-6-3-5.

A new turn begins (125), and lo and behold, a sword appears, and all his stats are now +5.

How is that possible?

Dear Cas, I watched Amilu's online game on Sticki and clearly remember that when he was clearing the Hive's guards, he didn't notice the +5 sword because it was hidden. The viewers even said at the time, "If this were Heroes 5, you could rotate the camera." The Hive's guard force was simply too large, which led him to think that there was something else there. While he was on Sticki, he hovered the cursor over it, and the inscription "Artefact..." appeared. After receiving his turn from Sticki, he picked it up first. :p
