A predisposition to magic is useful for a warrior in the early stages. For a mage, it's probably not necessary... unless we want to level up an Inferno mage and have them learn Armageddon on the second day. :) By the way, the direct damage of a mage hero is dealt through magic. If you enhance the corresponding school of magic, you can increase the direct damage.
