We played in three sittings. I'll say right away, I screwed up during the map creation stage. I don't know what I was thinking creating a Jebus Cross with underground, but the fact remains: we played on a ruthless, bugged map. Zzzloi, by the way, only noticed this on the next day of our game, when I had already used all my restarts, the opponent had taken 2, and the in-game date was 141 (or 151). Anyway, we discussed it and decided to continue. Though, judging by everything, this proved fatal for my opponent.
My start was simply catastrophic. On the first day, I picked up 26 archers, upgraded them (the second level was built), and then, two steps from the castle, I lost them to 43 unupgraded crocodiles. The opponent still had 1 restart left, and I hopefully pass the turn. No restart followed. In the end, I was left with 4 heroes on hand (one of them Kyrre), hardly any gold in sight, no army. Surrendering was stupid, so I decided to try my luck. I scattered with 4 heroes, not along the roads, but I found some gold and resources, and three days from the castle — a market, a bunch of unguarded water mills and gardens. A Dragon Fly Hive behind the crocodiles and zombies, an external dwelling of angels behind unupgraded demons, and a Pandora's Box right there for a pack of Wyverns. A glimmer of hope appeared. Kyrre found a bypass to a secondary town, picking up free pikemen along the way — and suddenly I had a secondary Tower town. Earlier than my opponent.
I played very frugally, immediately decided to go for angels at all costs, and didn't buy any army. I bought one extra hero, ran along the road in the opposite direction from everything, but there was a block — wasted money. The angels finally went up in the citadel. Then things really started going my way. On day 121, I took the external dwelling of angels, then a Pandora's Box for 10k experience, a Pandora's Box for 5k, a max-level Dragon Fly Hive, expert attack, logistics. For some reason, Water Magic was pushed on me, and, I don't remember at what stage, I had to take Wisdom. On the way to the second village, I take a Dragon Fly Hive (8), 2 external dwellings of horses, I burn another Dragon Fly Hive and a Griffin Conservatory. On the other edge of the map, another external dwelling of angels.
I take a Pandora's Box behind a stack of upgraded Liches and get all of level 5 magic. I couldn't believe my eyes. At first, I was scared it would be taken from me right away :) I just completely forgot when I had mastered Wisdom. I even checked the spellbook to make sure all the spells were there :). I took another Pandora's Box behind Nomads: +40 Marksmen. By the way, I had already sent all the other Marksmen to eat. On day 127, with the Loaches, I took the second external dwelling of angels. The guard and the angels themselves were fed by 5 Fanatics and 3 Horses. I felt sorry for the Horses.
On day 131, I took an angel from the external dwellings. While passing along the chain, I dropped a Hat +3 and a Shield +5. Moved into the Griffin Conservatory. Max-level, of course :) From there, I broke Kyrre into a village to refill mana and take the Dragon Utopia, passed the turn, and then Mephala appeared in person. She smashed the GO from a stack of upgraded Behemoths three days' travel from my main and slipped back into the darkness. Mephala's stats weren't too impressive, I didn't see the army composition (except for the grand stack), but I got worried. The next day, I took a min-level Dragon Fly Hive, transferred troops to Kyrre, cast Fly, captured another min-level Dragon Fly Hive, freed Thane level 5 and Vistina with expert logistics, but couldn't reach the Dragon Utopia. I passed the turn and watched Mephala moving from the darkness along the road toward my main. I was ahead in army and stats.
On day 134, I finally take the Dragon Utopia. The meat was only what Vistina and Thane brought, and it was all devoured in the first round. I had only 45 mana after Fly, the enemy was at the gates, so I cast nothing. As a result, 6 Wyverns died for a Sword +12, an anti-resistance Sphere, a Chain +4, and a Necklace of Lightning. I break into the main, transfer troops, upgrade the Archangel for the first move. Mephala is a couple of squares short of reaching my main. I don't understand at all what she's doing here. I attack. The opponent writes GG and quits after the first turn's Implosion takes out 42 Grands.
Thanks to Zzzloi for the game.
What else can I say? Play Heroes, it's cooler than poker.
