Yes, updates are released infrequently and are essentially minor. But I think there is a good reason for that – work on the expansion pack is underway in parallel (that is, new maps, campaigns, creatures, heroes, faction, artifacts) and city screens. Considering that only 9 people are working on the game (or so), it's acceptable.
