It will work, but the berserk won't wear off until the phoenix actually hits someone. So I still insist that the berserk resistance is the key here.

Fine, whatever. But at least the rest of my army wouldn't be hit by their own phoenixes' breath, and the tactics would work. And thanks to their strength, they could handle it themselves, without the phoenixes' help. By the second turn, they would all be near the heroes. Plus, the disintegrator would work, of course. It's quite possible that by the second turn, it would have already taken out one of the heroes.
Well, never mind, it's all hypothetical, the berserk didn't work anyway.
