I'll say it right away, I'm experiencing very complex feelings.
I really want everyone who signed up for the tournament to be satisfied with the enjoyable time, but it's very difficult to find conditions that won't disappoint anyone.
I really liked the following words:

In principle, I started this thread for the same reasons - I want to spend time in an interesting and useful way :)
I very much ask all potential participants, if they have any complaints, not to immediately take offense and proudly leave, but to try to find a compromise :)
I hope for mutual understanding and goodwill, both in the preparation for the tournament and during its conduct.
I hope that Pit for LM (as the best player of 2011) or Dirty_Player (as the coordinator) will help resolve controversial situations. But I REALLY and REALLY hope that we will hold the tournament in a civilized and amicable manner, without resorting to scandals :)

Now, from the lyrical part to the practical matters.

The tournament format will be a Swiss system.
Places in the tournament are determined according to the number of points scored.
Win - 1; draw - 0.5; loss - 0.
Participants who have the same number of points are ranked according to the Buchholz coefficient.
With the current number of participants, we will need 5 rounds (log2 N, where N is the number of participants).
In the first round, pairs are formed by a random draw.
I will use the Swiss Master 5.5 program.
For this, all participants will be numbered in a RANDOM order and divided into pairs.
Thus, the color will also be determined randomly, but from round to round, the color will change when the program creates pairs for the next round.
White color - red, black color - blue :)
The procedure for the first round draw will be shown live on February 22, 2012, at 20:00 Moscow time
I hope to do a stream. If the stream doesn't work out for technical reasons, then Mikogo.
I will also broadcast the draws of subsequent rounds.
Registration for the tournament will end at 18:00 Moscow time on February 22.
The deadline for the first round is until February 26, inclusive.
February 27 - draw for the second round.
I ask everyone to be organized and not let down their opponents :)

Now, the most important point - regarding the templates used.
Sevan_80 and I played the Speed-2 template (size M-U) for a test.
The game ended on day 125, we upgraded the heroes to level 5, and built level 6 structures in the starting cities.
No surprises occurred, I got my butt kicked :), i.e., the template correctly determines the player's skill :)
But both of us still had a feeling of dissatisfaction with the size of the template :)
Therefore, I propose the following solution:
Introduce a choice of 5 templates.
Kite
Wheel
Speed
Speed-2
And a template that PlayHeroes_HP will create.

That is, both sizes will be present: L and M.
And if both players want to play in size M, then by all means.
If, however, at least one of the players is against it, then they play in L, chosen by the draw.
I think that it will not take much more time, and the size L, in my opinion, depends less on randomness and the generator's luck.
The template draw will be started by the blue player.
The color, I remind you, is determined randomly during the round draw.
In the case of a subjective restart, the color does not change.
