Nope, it's the duckling syndrome and chronic old-school mentality.

It's unlikely to apply to someone who frequently changes their preferences when encountering something more interesting.
Moreover, most of the old games that I liked were played by me later than many modern ones. I can give a few examples.
I finished Fallout 3 before I became familiar with the first games in the series; moreover, before that, I hardly encountered the Fallout universe at all. Nevertheless, I liked Tactics the most.
I finished Baldur's Gate later than Dragon Age. The situation is the same as in the previous example.
In general, I can only recall a couple of old games that I liked and played before anything newer.
Nevertheless, I am open to everything new and try to look at new works objectively. As an example, I've mentioned Saints Row: The Third several times, which was released at the end of 2011. I actually liked it very much.
