I also initially thought that the droid was firing plasma. However, I don't quite associate the name "droid" with plasma weaponry (maybe I've played too much King's Bounty). In that case, the patrol unit could have been in block, and my assassin (Mist/Justice/Zero) was simply deterred. With this scenario, execution by block definitely doesn't make sense (although maybe one of the mages was also in block, and Jane was going to Lynx). Anyway, I'll think about it again with a fresh mind tomorrow.
