Starting from the third level, the improved creatures in the swamp, instead of physical strength, gained useful abilities. Snakes remove all beneficial effects from enemy creatures, replacing them with weakness. Basilisks turn enemy creatures to stone with their gaze, and gorgons kill additional monsters (an especially important ability when fighting creatures of level 6-7), while wyverns reduce the enemy's hit points, and hydras attack several creatures at once, and no one can retaliate!
Snakes are certainly a nuisance, but as a rule, it is very difficult to accumulate a sufficient number of them because their stats are low => they are an easily defeated unit, basilisks and gorgons, I agree (especially gorgons), wyverns are very weak themselves (if I'm not mistaken, they are the weakest at level 6), and hydras will be defeated before they even reach the enemy if not all, then many, and it is convenient to attack them with creatures that have a double attack (for example, a crusader). And that's all for the swamp.
