How could anyone think that an experienced player would make such a foolish mistake, especially on the first day? After all, this is the 40th game, not the 10th.

That's not a valid argument at all.

And notice that Vis and Kitz were also peaceful.

Kitz had at least some reasonable justification for not wanting to execute Lynx. Vis didn't attract that much attention.

They were defending Lynx, who already has protection.

I can't understand the point of this move at all. There's no way this could be considered a good play, as in any case, the number of possible roles for the player will be significantly reduced.
