The offensive of the imperial troops was waning, although the bridgehead had been completely reclaimed from the enemy and fortified. Reports of a level 3 threat began to arrive. Everything happening in the heart of the battle barge was strictly kept secret under penalty of death. It could not be allowed for this to become known to the soldiers.
Deliries felt wonderful in the friendly company of a strong warrior in terminator armor. Later, a young guy joined them. He was larger than any human, but still didn't measure up to a space marine. An interesting conversation ensued, but he soon left, explaining that he was expected on the command bridge.
For Kits, things turned out a bit differently. She was offered fencing practice. Although she refused, her partner was very persistent.
Lizard felt in an inspired state the whole time. Apparently, he had a useful conversation in the morning.
WisTrit was returning to his cabin after another series of victories. "Is there really no worthy opponent for me?" he thought. Apparently, he would get what he wanted. An assassin, walking toward him, drew his sword from its scabbard. WisTrit realized that a challenge had been thrown at him. He was the first to charge into attack, expecting his opponent to be stunned, and began delivering series of strikes perfected by many trainings. But the assassin, with superhuman reflexes, dodged and parried all his lunges. Still, he was not a space marine of the Order, and WisTrit understood this. He noticed that his rival was slowly tiring and began to deliver ever more furious attacks, forcing the opponent to retreat. Just a little more and he would win... One mistake and his deadly blow would decide the fight... He became so inflamed by this thought that he failed to react in time to a counterattack. The assassin delivered a lightning strike and severed his sword arm, and with the next blow pierced his throat. The fight was decided.
- You lost, Warrior. – the assassin gasped, and as a sign of his superiority, carved the word Sasser on the forehead of the defeated enemy with his sword.
Rimpel was calmly returning from another one of his reports. But death awaited him in one of the corridors. Several shots rang out, but he reacted quickly and managed to evade by taking cover in a passageway. He began firing back with his bolter. But he was no match for his opponent, despite numerous trainings. In the end, one of the bolter shells struck him dead. The assassin vanished without a trace.
Several information tablets were delivered to the command bridge:
Damn disinformation agents, the Sister kills if she has a chainsword, Dragneel was right. Last night they redirected Dragneel to—guess for yourselves. Rest in peace Inquisitor, Interrogator and Psyker.
Nothing shall stand before the wrath of the Inquisition! Death to heretics!
Fellow space marines and humans loyal to the Emperor! I am still alive, if anyone doubts this.
It seems I will not have to exercise my authority within this operation, as unfortunately, they do not allow me to execute space marines who have betrayed our ideals. I sincerely hope that I am not mistaken and coordinated actions will help us overcome the enemy.
