You don't understand! Rampart has the highest "meatiness" of units + it's cheap. Cheap and effective. + Great heroes. And it's not versatile?
Unless you're using a build like Jebus. On others, Rampart rules.

By the way, stop comparing units one-on-one; only noobs do that.
