Secondly, on any of the templates that we play, there is a gradual increase in power, building up over time. Even on the aforementioned "poor" small map, this is present. But in 8x8, the game doesn't flow smoothly; it feels jerky.
Personally, I find it inconvenient to play without a rhythm and to skip turns. Perhaps it's comfortable for Chinese, black, or Arab players; let them play. I'm not saying it's "bad," it's just that this template doesn't suit our style of play very well.
