2. Which hero or race is best to play against Humans? Mage, Warrior, or which race?

1. It's a passive ability. Any warrior standing within two squares of the Devastator will only attack it (except for Necromancers and those with mind control immunity).
Once, in a duel (I was playing as Sanctuary), the opponent cast Petrify on the Devastator, and the units standing nearby lost their turn – they couldn't attack the Devastator, so I had to move them away first and then attack with other units. He won thanks to the skillful use of Devastators and their reinforcements. However, in the next duel, I defeated that player by destroying the Devastators on my first turn.
2. Against Humans? It all depends on the opponent's tactics. Again, I played as Sanctuary against Humans in a duel. The player adopted a passive position, placing his units in a tight formation: the first line consisted of archers, Luminaries, and Dryads, with a Guardian in the center flanked by Angels and Griffins, and another Luminary in front of the Guardian for cover. It was like a square formation. The Guardian in the center absorbed some of the damage from other units and also weakened them by 25%. The Angels and Dryads resurrected units, the Griffins didn't move, and only the Luminaries and archers attacked.
As a result, the Humans were already strong, but the damage dealt to them was reduced by more than half – the Luminaries attacked without retaliation and also blinded, and the archers decimated several units. I tried to lure his units into a fight, but it was useless; he didn't move them, and he defeated me.
But the next time, I defeated him with the same hero – Irina, a Sanctuary mage – and it was a crushing victory. On my first turn, I placed a Poison Cloud over his formation, which covered all his units and lasted until the end of the battle, dealing 580 damage each turn. He realized what was happening on his third turn and started moving his square formation out from under the cloud, and that's when the Sanctuary units took over – if they fight one-on-one, they are stronger than Human units. But if I had a warrior instead of a mage, I wouldn't have been able to break up his formation.
