Amko walked quickly toward his goal, full of determination to do what he had to. The path ran along the forest, straight toward the middle of the field. A branch snapped nearby, and a man in glasses stepped out from behind the trees, wielding a massive cannon. After he pulled several levers, energy sparkled at the end of the barrel. A lightning-like beam erupted from the Doctor's weapon and struck Amko. He collapsed to the ground with a thud. The Doctor, looking at the lifeless body of his victim, sighed and said something in broken Italian.
It was unusually dark in the Grove, despite the bright sun. The Hollow held two large black pistols in his hands, which seemed to be woven from dense smoke.

Loreley was walking home smiling and not expecting an attack, let alone one like this. The air shuddered, sunbeams refracted strangely in some places, and the Hollow emerged from the darkness that formed ahead. Several shots rang out, and Loreley fell dead to the ground, scattering a strange gray powder. A second later, it looked as if no one had ever been there.
