HoMM3 HD is a mod (add-on) for the game Heroes of Might and Magic 3.
Leader1,
I'm explaining the situation in detail. I was tired of the questions in previous versions of HD: "Why doesn't my Heroes3.exe version 4.0 appear in the list, but only some stupid Heroes3HD.exe version 3.2?" and "Can't you make a patch for Heroes3.exe 3.0 from Book?" So now, any Heroes version 3.0 and higher appears in the list of executables to launch (except for executables from previous HD versions, as they are incompatible with HD3).
But when you click the "Launch" button, if the executable is not 3.2 En, then Heroes3HD3.exe (without an icon) is actually launched, which comes with HD3 (the same applies to creating a shortcut). So the easiest way is to have the original, native executable for that version in the game folder.
By the way, based on the selected executable in the list, the HD3 Launcher automatically selects the corresponding pack for that version (localization), and I'm also tired of the questions about why HD crashes with the Book compilation.
How to launch HD3 without the original executable in the folder:
1) Create a shortcut for Heroes3HD3.exe and in its properties, in the "Target" field, add:
```
< >
```
(space, less than, greater than)
Edit _HD3_Data\default_ini to change options.
2) In the _HD3_Data folder, create a copy of default_ini, named, for example, options.ini.
Create a shortcut for Heroes3HD3.exe and in its properties, in the "Target" field, add:
```
```
(space, less than, options.ini, greater than), edit options.ini to change options.
