In your opinion, what is the best real-time strategy game?

You're just being overly critical of Dune 2. It was an amazing game for its time, and later it was ported to consoles with improved graphics. I spent too much time playing it to say it's a bad game. And your arguments about the "awful interface" and "stupid controls" are not worth a damn. You might as well say something similar about Diablo, and you'd be laughed at.
