Yeah, but if the morale drops into the negative due to the joined monsters, it won't be very pleasant. So, either leadership is needed, or artifacts that increase morale.

Or my favorite, Mirth on expert difficulty...:rolleyes: I remember when a bunch of upgraded vampires joined me, and I was playing as Fortress. One slot was empty because I usually leave golems in the castle (so they don't slow down the hero + so there's someone to defend the garrison if anything happens). The temptation was great... but these guys ruined my morale. I had to cast Mirth, and it helped immediately. Well, after that, I still dumped these necromancers into the garrison of the captured castle -
