Questions about the gameplay of Heroes 6.

In the very first tutorial mission, Vyacheslav didn't choose a path. He replayed the second map of the first mini-mission, choosing Tears. However, in the final hero registry, all the other heroes have paths assigned, but Vyacheslav still doesn't.
Is this fatal?
